| I've been painting as long as I could hold a brush, but my only formal training was in my teens at the New York State Summer School of the Arts. Painting is what kept me sane throughout college, medical school, career, and motherhood.
My preferred medium is acrylic, but I am always experimenting. My painting is driven by my surroundings and what is happening in my life. I've lived in Southeast Texas since 2003 and find it very inspirational. There is tremendous variety in the climate and environment, the skies, the weather, and the flora.
Since I have lived here my city has been devastated twice by hurricanes, and I'm amazed by the spirit and regrowth I've witnessed. I've always enjoyed seeing pretty things in unexpected places, and finding beauty amidst the destruction. Sometimes, the very best parts of life have been waiting for you to become seasoned from the storm. It just keeps getting better. |
